What We Do. Prepare & Give is your organization for a new and improved Canned Food Drive, or as we say, A BETTER FOOD Drive. Through the Prepare & Give Project and Food Drive we bring your community together to use emergency preparedness to fight hunger. Our food drives don’t just collect old cans and dusty food from your pantry that can end up in land fills. Instead, our food drive that wastes no food and is driven by three purposes. Our three purposes are to prepare society for emergencies, to fight hunger, and raise money for your local food banks and organizations that participate in the Prepare & Give Food Drive.

If you didn’t know, the same type of food that emergency management experts recommend to keep on hand for disasters is often the same food needed by food banks. Based on this we developed emergency food so you can PREPARE for emergencies and a year later GIVE that food to the hungry. Our Food Drives are annual events where your entire community can participate year after year to make your community more resilient and more compassionate.  Not only does the Prepare & Give Food Drive provide emergency food and food to the hungry, but it also serves as a virtual food drive for your local food bank as well as a fundraising opportunity for the organizations that participate.

Prepare & Give came about through the encouragement of our founder’s old pastor to fight the immoral injustices of the world, in this case hunger. If 1 in 100 were hungry it would be bad, but in America 1 in 8 are and in other places it’s even worse, and that is unacceptable. Prepare & Give was founded by social entrepreneur, investor and CEO Daniel Phelps and his wife Dr. Sara Phelps a pediatric hospitalist physician at Valley Children’s Hospital in Central California.
